The outermost bounds of the town, in a sense. You are still in Salem, except this is the side only the undead can indefinitely exist in, unseen by humans, though the humans can be seen by them. The Astray are forever existing in this plane, therefore they are always watching.

The cemetery is the ultimate stop for late night teenagers. Rumors and stories of strange occurrences and spiritual sightings are always circulating through town, some of which are easily dismissed as false, and others that can only remain on a vague level of skepticism.

Located at the forest's edge and right outside the town, a single train comes and goes, delivering goods and money from coal that it exports. It runs several times a week, driven unmanned. It is said the train travel's a great distance to reach the outside world; the only way to discover the truth of this rumor would be to follow the tracks, but if anyone has tried, they never returned.

Coal is the main supporting industry of Salem. Being responsible for the majority of the town's income, it is vitally important that there are always miners available. With the recent explosion of the east mine that wiped out a fourth of Salem Estates, it has been a battle to persuade remaining workers to continue with their job.

The high school of Salem, known to be home to some of the craziest occurrences and events. Each generation that comes seems more rambunctious than the last, and teachers aren't lenient, but lazy; therefore, rules are poorly enforced with the exception of an occasional strict teacher, who is usually the student body's main target for pranks.

Salem Preliminary School teaches grades 1-7 and includes a pre-school, which some parents consider simply a daycare. With its overly cutesy setting and tiny run down playground, it leaves much to be desired. Right next to Salem High School, it is often a targeted building to hang around for high school skippers.

The Marketplace is a small plaza between the schools and main neighborhoods. Every marketable item imported into Salem goes here, and with every new shipment comes excited people from around town to seek out any oddball items from the unknown outside world. The Marketplace is also a popular destination for garden and yard sales. Policemen can be commonly found hovering around its perimeter.

The police have an easy job in Salem, only having to deal with an occasion hoodlum teenager. This consists of giving them a quick lazy lecture, threats of further action to be taken next time they goof off (threats that never seem to be carried out), and a call to their parents to come pick them up. Mostly, the police hang around the marketplace, claiming to be on the lookout for common shoplifters. Though an easy job for now, one never knows when something could strike Salem and call for these policemen to shape up into true detectives--and fast.

On the opposite side of town from the Salem Estates, the lower income citizens of Salem reside in several apartments. Though a bit run down, they can still make for a calm place to live.

There isn't an actual mail system in Salem. Citizens pay bills by attending monthly visits to the Town Hall. Some people write notes to others and leave it somewhere to find, whether handing it to them on the street or leaving it on their porch. Be careful, though. You never know if your note may end up in the wrong hands.

Need to call up a friend real fast, or perhaps have a long discussion with them? Cell phones aren't around in Salem, but there's always the option of the good 'ole landlines.
